The most common pollutants in the air of your business premises

Indoor air pollution has two main factors: indoor pollutants and pollutants from outside air.

Sources of internal pollution

Viruses and bacterias:

The beginning of winter is synonymous with the flu, gastroenteritis and common cold. That is why limiting the spread of viruses in a company helps reduce absenteeism and improve work productivity.

Dust:

Volatile organic compounds:

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are gases and vapours that contain carbon. They are used in multiple business sectors, particularly in industrial processes using solvents (paints, glues, varnishes, inks, surface treatments, degreasing, dry cleaning, rubber, etc.). VOCs used in a wide range of materials and products for building renovations include benzene (in paints, solvents), toluene (in paints, thinners, varnishes, glues, sealing products) and formaldehyde (in glues for pressed wood products, fabrics, glues and adhesives, paints and coatings).The effects of VOCs are highly variable. They range from olfactory disturbance to carcinogenic effects, and include various forms of irritation and reduced respiratory capacity.

Diesel particulates:

Diesel engines release PM10 particulates into the air. These fine particulates are one of the main health risk factors related to air pollution in urban environments.
The World Health Organization (WHO) linked them to certain lung cancers in 2012. They also cause other pulmonary diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The finer the particulates, the more aggressive they are, settling deep into the bronchi and creating inflammation. There are also cardiovascular risks (chest pain, heart attack, cardiac rhythm disorders), which occur when very fine particulates cross through the lining of the bronchial tubes and enter the bloodstream. This thickens the blood, which then has a greater risk of coagulating.

Industrial pollution:

Depending on the location of your building, you may be affected by pollution generated by your neighbours. When you purify the indoor air of your building, you are also protecting your employees from the pollution emitted by industrial businesses located nearby.
