Air Quality in a Podiatry Office: Feedback from One of Our Clients, Jean-Christophe
Having already installed the necessary equipment following an air quality assessment conducted in his office, he agreed to be interviewed and share his experience: Why did he want to measure the air quality in his workplace? What did he discover? And what has changed since then?
A firsthand account based on his experience and daily life as a professional.
Why did you have the air in your office tested?
“I decided to have the air in my office tested because I had been alarmed by the fact that two of my teachers had developed serious health conditions—one of whom had passed away. Working conditions back then were nothing like they are today.”
"And for me, that's always been something that's interested me."
Have you encountered any specific issues?
"The problem is that we don't realize it. I thought everything was going well at my practice."
"I realized that there were certain evenings when I coughed a little more and my eyes felt irritated. And thanks to this analysis, I realized that this corresponded pretty closely with the days when there were more solvents and more pollutants in my office."
What surprised you the most during the diagnosis?
"The first thing that struck me when I was diagnosed was that when I requested the evaluation from you, just about everyone in the office made fun of me."
As soon as the light on the tester turned red, everyone’s eyes were fixed on the test results and the numbers.
"It really opened our eyes to the quality of our air."
Any stories?
"What really surprised me was how accurate this tool is."
"There are four of us at the office, and that week I had two interns. We could see the CO₂ levels rising as more and more people gathered in the room throughout the day."
What did the diagnosis reveal?
“I thought I was in a well-ventilated room: I have a large window, a mechanical ventilation system, and two doors, so I thought there was really good air circulation. And I was really surprised by the CO₂ level.”
I also had formaldehyde levels that were significantly higher than average, and VOC levels were also quite high at various times throughout the day.
"Finally, after a week of analyzing the air, I saw the various pollutants that were present in my workshop."
What did the diagnosis recommend?
"The main recommendation was to get an EOLIS, which has a filter that captures pollutants throughout the day and improves the quality of the air I breathe."
NatéoSanté suggested the EOLIS 600S solution, which is the best fit for my office's setup.
Ever since I've had this device, I no longer experience all that irritation I used to feel at the end of the day.
"And best of all, I don't even have to think about it. I mean, I don't have to do anything to improve the air quality in my office. There's no special procedure involved, and it doesn't take up any of my time at all."
Today, could you live without it?
"If they took the device away from me tomorrow, I wouldn't be happy about it, because it's really become part of my ecosystem."
Could I do without it? By necessity, I went without it for 20 years. But honestly, I would really hate to, because now I’m fully aware of everything I breathe in.
"And I really don't want to part with it."
What would you say to a colleague who is still on the fence?
“If I had to say just one thing to a colleague to try to convince them, I’d tell them that the process is super simple: there’s absolutely nothing to do—it runs on its own—and it’s a clear indication of the quality of the air we breathe.”
It helps you realize all the risks you take when you work.
"It's actually a huge blessing for me to have this and to be protected by the air I breathe—which is, after all, the foundation."
Can you summarize your experience with NatéoSanté in a few words?
“A quick and easy initial consultation, a comprehensive one-week assessment, and relevant, effective, and efficient solutions.”
Measuring to Better Understand Your Work Environment
Jean-Christophe’s experience illustrates one of the challenges of indoor air quality: certain phenomena are not immediately noticeable in everyday life. Taking measurements allows you to objectively assess your work environment and better understand what happens throughout the workday.
The IAQ ( NatéoSanté ) assessment is conducted over a 7-day period under the clinic’s actual operating conditions. It monitors, among other things, fine particles, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, CO₂, temperature, and humidity.
Once the measurements are complete, our teams analyze the data. A customized report is presented during a videoconference briefing to explain the results and provide recommendations tailored to the situation observed.
What about you—do you know what you're breathing in your office?
Sanding, routing, adhesives, resins, cleaning or disinfecting products… various activities in the office can affect indoor air quality.
Diagnosis is the first step toward assessing, understanding, and taking appropriate action.
