Air purifiers for nursing homes and senior living facilities
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Nursing Homes: How to Monitor and Improve It?
Starting January 1, 2025, indoor air quality monitoring will be mandatory in facilities serving vulnerable members of the public, placing nursing homes at the center of these regulations.
Since older adults are more vulnerable to poor indoor air quality, it is essential to protect their health by maintaining good indoor air quality.
With NatéoSanté CO2 sensors, IAQ displays, and professional air purifiers NatéoSanté their support services—you can be sure to comply with the IAQ decree and improve air quality in your nursing home, retirement home, or senior living facility.
Your needs
Protecting the health of residents and staff
The GERIE study, conducted in approximately 50 nursing homes across seven European countries, shows that indoor air in senior care facilities has a detrimental effect on residents’ respiratory function, even when European standards for air pollutant concentrations are met.
It is therefore essential to take action by reducing the amount of pollutants in the indoor air.
- Prevent the spread of bacteria, microorganisms, and viruses (including coronaviruses, influenza, and other respiratory viruses) among residents, staff, and visitors
- Reduce respiratory allergies, irritation (of the eyes and throat), respiratory infections (bronchiolitis, nasopharyngitis, etc.), and cross-contamination during outbreaks
Improve residents' well-being and enhance the value of your nursing home
- Eliminate unpleasant odors (cleaning products, body odor, incontinence, etc.) to improve everyone’s well-being
- Provide better working conditions for healthcare workers: reduce sick leave and absenteeism
- By prioritizing the well-being of your residents and staff with NatéoSanté professional solutions, you can enhance your facility’s reputation by providing a “healthy air” service available daily to all occupants.
Comply with the regulations governing indoor air quality monitoring in public buildings
- In early 2025, the requirement to inspect ventilation systems and monitor indoor air quality in public buildings (Decrees No. 2022-1689 and No. 2022-1690) will be extended to nursing homes and retirement homes. The pollutants covered by this regulation are carbon dioxide (CO2), formaldehyde, and benzene.
- Be sure to comply with the limits set by the decree right away by installing CO2 and pollutant concentration monitors and, if necessary, air purifiers to remove pollutants from your facility.
What are the sources of indoor air pollution in nursing homes and senior living facilities?
- Carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Fine particles
- Stubborn odors
