The NatéoSanté air purifiers are equipped with several filters, each of which serves a specific purpose.

  • The particulate filter: HEPA H14 or ULPA U15 (depending on the model).

What is the difference between these two types of filters?

HEPA H14 filtersare capable of filtering particles that are 0.30 microns or larger.

ULPA U15 filters, on the other hand, are capable of filtering particles that are 0.12 microns or larger.

In particular, we distinguish between fine particles (with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns) and larger particles, also known as macro-particles.

Fine particulate matter comes from sources such as road traffic (diesel engines in cars, trucks, and buses), industry, agriculture, and combustion (chimneys, home heating systems, etc.).

Examples of macro-particles include dust, pet dander, pollen, and dust mites…

  • The activated carbon filter

The activated carbon filter will absorb odors, gases, and VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

  • The oxidation filter

The oxidation filter eliminates gases, fungi, VOCs, odors, bacteria, and viruses.

Why is it important to change the filters in your air purifier regularly?

Detailed diagram of the filter assembly in the air purifier

It is recommended that you replace the filters in an air purifier approximately every 6 to 12 months. The environment in which the air purifier is located has a significant impact on the lifespan of the filters. In fact, the filters in an air purifier located in an apartment near a boulevard in a large metropolitan area, where the owner smokes and has cats, will have a significantly shorter lifespan than those in a unit located in a place less exposed to pollution.

Furthermore, if you don’t take the time to change your air purifier’s filters regularly, they will become clogged and will no longer be very effective. The airflow of your air purifier will be reduced, and the device will be much less effective. Many customers naturally realize that the filters need to be changed. Indeed, at some point, they no longer feel the same level of comfort!

In addition, it’s important to note that clogged filters can damage your air purifier.

In any case, we recommend that you check the wear and tear on the your air purifier’s filters regularly and to clean the pre-filter of your unit if it has one.
